Hytel-AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to a decrease in blood pressure. Amlodipine is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and reducing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents effectively controls hypertension by targeting different mechanisms involved in blood pressure regulation. Hytel-AM is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and may be used when monotherapy with either agent is insufficient to achieve desired blood pressure control.
