HY 10 Tablet contains Hydroxyzine 10 mg, an antihistamine with anxiolytic, sedative, and antiemetic properties. It is primarily indicated for the management of anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis and as an adjunct in organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested. Hydroxyzine acts by antagonizing H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing the effects of histamine in the body, which helps alleviate allergic symptoms such as pruritus and urticaria. Additionally, it exerts a central nervous system depressant effect, contributing to its efficacy in sedation and anxiety relief. HY 10 Tablet may also be used as a premedication before anesthesia to potentiate sedation and reduce nausea and vomiting. The recommended dosage should be individualized based on the patient’s condition, age, and response to therapy, with caution advised in elderly patients and those with hepatic or renal impairment. Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, and headache. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Hydroxyzine or related compounds and should be used with caution in pregnancy and lactation.
