Hixita 100 Tablet contains Sitagliptin 100 mg, a potent oral antihyperglycemic agent belonging to the class of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It is primarily indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin, to improve glycemic control. Sitagliptin works by selectively inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, thereby enhancing the levels of incretin hormones, which increase insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells in a glucose-dependent manner while simultaneously decreasing glucagon secretion from alpha cells.
