About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Hitap-ER 100 Tablet contains Tapentadol 100 mg, an extended-release opioid analgesic indicated for the management of moderate to severe chronic pain requiring continuous, long-term opioid treatment when alternative options are inadequate. Tapentadol acts centrally by binding to μ-opioid receptors and inhibiting norepinephrine reuptake, providing dual mechanisms for analgesia. The extended-release formulation ensures sustained plasma concentrations, enabling consistent pain control over a 12-hour dosing interval, thereby improving patient compliance and minimizing fluctuations in pain relief. Hitap-ER 100 is contraindicated in patients with significant respiratory depression, acute or severe bronchial asthma, paralytic ileus, or known hypersensitivity to Tapentadol or any excipients. Caution is advised when prescribing to individuals with a history of substance abuse, respiratory disorders, or hepatic or renal impairment. Common adverse effects include nausea, dizziness, constipation, headache, and somnolence. Due to its opioid nature, there is a risk of dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms upon abrupt discontinuation. Concomitant use with CNS depressants, including alcohol, may potentiate sedative effects and respiratory depression. Dose titration should be individualized based on clinical response and tolerability. Patients should be regularly monitored to assess efficacy, side effects, and the potential for misuse or abuse. Hitap-ER 100 Tablet should be used strictly under medical supervision.
