About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Hepcvel Tablet contains a fixed-dose combination of Sofosbuvir 400 mg and Velpatasvir 100 mg, indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection across all major genotypes (1-6) in adult patients. Sofosbuvir is a nucleotide analog NS5B polymerase inhibitor that prevents viral RNA replication, while Velpatasvir is an NS5A inhibitor that disrupts viral replication and assembly. The combination offers a potent, once-daily oral regimen that has demonstrated high sustained virologic response (SVR) rates, effectively achieving viral clearance with a favorable safety profile. Hepcvel is typically administered for 12 weeks, with or without ribavirin, depending on the patient’s HCV genotype, prior treatment history, and presence of cirrhosis. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. Caution is advised when co-administered with drugs that induce or inhibit P-glycoprotein or CYP enzymes, as these may affect plasma concentrations of Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. Hepcvel is not recommended for use in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh C) or end-stage renal disease without close monitoring. Regular monitoring of liver function tests and HCV RNA levels is essential to assess therapeutic response and detect potential adverse effects.
