Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea class hypoglycemic agent, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, improves insulin sensitivity by decreasing hepatic glucose production and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
