About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Gluvoid 10 Tablet contains Dapagliflozin 10 mg, an oral antihyperglycemic agent belonging to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It is primarily indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. Dapagliflozin acts by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, thereby reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, which leads to a reduction in plasma glucose levels. This mechanism is independent of insulin secretion or action, making it effective in various stages of type 2 diabetes. Gluvoid 10 may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in lowering HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and body weight, with additional benefits on blood pressure reduction. Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and increased urination. It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or on dialysis. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypotension or volume depletion. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy with Gluvoid 10 Tablet.
