Geripod 4 Tablet contains Silodosin 4mg, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist indicated for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Silodosin acts by selectively blocking alpha-1A adrenergic receptors predominantly located in the prostate and bladder neck, leading to relaxation of smooth muscle and improvement in urinary flow. This mechanism helps reduce symptoms such as urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying. Geripod 4 is typically administered orally once daily with a meal to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. The drug is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment, significant renal dysfunction, or known hypersensitivity to Silodosin or any excipients. Caution is advised when co-administered with other alpha-blockers or antihypertensive agents due to the potential risk of hypotension. Common adverse effects include dizziness, retrograde ejaculation, nasal congestion, and orthostatic hypotension. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and symptom relief is recommended during therapy.
