About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Gemfos Tablet contains Risedronate 35 mg, a bisphosphonate used primarily in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at increased risk of fractures. Risedronate works by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the incidence of vertebral and non-vertebral fractures. Gemfos is indicated for patients with established osteoporosis, Paget’s disease of bone, and other conditions characterized by increased bone turnover. The recommended dosage is one 35 mg tablet taken orally once weekly, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach with a full glass of plain water, at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage, or other medication to ensure optimal absorption. Patients should remain upright for at least 30 minutes post-administration to minimize the risk of esophageal irritation. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as dyspepsia, esophagitis, and abdominal pain. Caution is advised in patients with esophageal abnormalities, hypocalcemia, or renal impairment. Regular monitoring of calcium levels and renal function is recommended during therapy. Gemfos Tablet should be used under medical supervision to ensure safe and effective management of bone disorders.
