About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Garnidic Cream contains Fusidic Acid 2.0% w/w, a topical antibiotic effective against a variety of gram-positive bacterial infections, particularly those caused by Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of superficial skin infections such as impetigo, infected eczema, folliculitis, and minor wounds or abrasions that have become infected. Fusidic Acid works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through interference with elongation factor G (EF-G), thereby preventing bacterial replication and promoting resolution of infection. Garnidic Cream is intended for external use only and should be applied in a thin layer to the affected area two to three times daily, with the duration of therapy typically ranging from 5 to 10 days depending on clinical response. Care should be taken to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. The product is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fusidic Acid or any of the cream’s excipients. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under medical supervision. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include local irritation, itching, or erythema. Appropriate hygiene measures should accompany treatment to prevent reinfection or spread.
