Flopro-D Tablet MR is a combination medication containing Tamsulosin 0.4mg and Dutasteride 0.5mg, primarily used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition characterized by an enlarged prostate gland that causes urinary difficulties in men. Tamsulosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow and reducing symptoms such as difficulty in starting urination, weak stream, and the need to urinate frequently or urgently. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for prostate growth, thereby helping to shrink the enlarged prostate over time and prevent further progression of BPH. The combination of these two active ingredients provides both immediate symptom relief and long-term reduction in prostate size. Flopro-D Tablet MR is usually prescribed for men with moderate to severe symptoms of BPH and is taken orally, typically once daily, with or after food. Patients should follow their healthcare provider’s instructions and may require regular monitoring to assess effectiveness and detect any potential side effects, which can include dizziness, headache, or sexual dysfunction.
