Eritel 80-H Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 80 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which results in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, leading to decreased plasma volume and reduced blood pressure. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides effective control of hypertension, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications associated with high blood pressure.
