About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Episert Cream contains Sertaconazole 2% w/w, an antifungal agent belonging to the imidazole class, indicated for the topical treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin such as dermatophytosis, candidiasis, and pityriasis versicolor. Sertaconazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Additionally, it exhibits anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties, which help alleviate symptoms associated with fungal infections. Episert Cream is suitable for use on affected areas of the skin, including the feet, groin, and body folds. The cream should be applied twice daily to the cleaned and dried lesion, continuing treatment for at least two weeks or as directed by a healthcare professional to ensure complete eradication of the infection and to prevent recurrence. Episert Cream is generally well tolerated; however, mild local reactions such as burning, itching, or redness may occur. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Sertaconazole or any cream excipients. Caution is advised when applying near the eyes or mucous membranes. Episert Cream offers an effective topical option for managing fungal skin infections, promoting symptom relief and fungal clearance.
